MARCH 2011 UPDATE: I have just begun my eight
week session of student teaching at Wheeling High School
where I am the acting varsity baseball pitching coach.
Student teaching will conclude at the beginning of May for
me. I will graduate from Chicago State University on May
20, 2011 with my BA in Physical Education and teaching
certification for grades K-12. I will be departing the country
on June 1, 2011 to complete my final season of professional
baseball in Slovakia. I will return home at the conclusion of
the season near the beginning of October.

While in Slovakia, I will be the number one starting pitcher
for the Trnava Angels and I will act as the pitching coach as
well. During my down time, I will be studying the bible and
the lord's word and practices in strive to begin setting the
foundation to my own ministries upon my return to the
United States. I plan on starting my own ministries so that I
can help people between the ages of 18-30, who may be
hesitant to attend church for the fear of doing something
incorrect regardless what it may be, establish a closer and
stronger relationship with God. I intend on associating and
connecting my studies and the lord's word with actual life
experiences that people may be dealing with. I want to be
the "link between life and the lord" for younger adults who
would like to be closer to God. I feel I am credible because
of the variety of life experiences I have already witnessed
along with my ability to relate my experiences to the
situations others are dealing with.

This is my plan and my agenda for now. Come October, it
will be time to start career/job hunting and moving on with
the next chapter of my life after playing baseball.

What keeps us so active in the life of Community
Presbyterian Church? The same reasons that we are
members: the friendship, care, and compassion that we
receive from our fellow church-goers, during good times
and not so good times, especially at this time of grief
over my mother’s passing. There are many opportunities
to understand and grow in our spiritual lives. One
example is the Bible-based six week classes led by Paul
Palmer, Pastor Emeritus. Also, we enjoy the pure fun at
events such as the annual spaghetti dinner.

When Joshua started college at ISU, Cindy and I
became empty-nesters. Alone again, we faced a real
adjustment. Yet, so many families in the church were
already where we had just arrived. Again, we were
surrounded by role models.

Today, I devote much of my free time fighting to
eradicate human trafficking (modern-day slavery) in
Chicago, and beyond. I was recently appointed to be
CPC’s representative to the Presbytery in the area of
“Advance Justice” mission, which includes Abolition.

I also love bike riding, cross country skiing, and I just
completed my first year of horseback riding lessons. I
am also enjoying the experience as Cindy and I embrace
our lives as a “couple” again, who are parents of an
outstanding young man.
